Detailed description of content

With innovation and leadership perspective in mind, the course covers methods of managerial economics of companies. This includes an advanced discussion on both financial and non-financial performance management methods (e.g. CSR-accounting, knowledge-accounting etc). The aim of the course is to enable the students to analyse and assess companies, and especially innovative companies, their business activities, financial and non-financial decision methods and their business implementation. Thus, the objective of the course goes beyond budgeting and control techniques by visiting modern dynamic methods beyond budgeting as well as reflecting upon them related to different company cases.

Expected work effort (ECTS-declaration)

Expected work effort is 135 hours, including: lectures 20 hours, preparation 67 hours, and exam 48 hours. This is equivalent to 5 ECTS.

Literature will be posted at Moodle for each lecture including the lists of exercises.

Evaluation- and feedback forms

Mid-term and final oral evaluation. Also, a survey-based final evaluation is conducted.

Teaching and working methods

Lectures, exercises, student presentations, peer feedback and discussions. The course requires that the students contribute and participate actively.

Individual written take-home assignment given by the lecturer.

The character limit of the assignment is: maximum  14,400 characters, including spaces.
The character limit includes the cover, table of contents, bibliography, figures and other illustrations, but exclude any appendices.

The duration of the take-home assignment is 48 hours and may include weekends and public holidays.
