ACADEMIC CONTENT
Overall objective

In this project, students work on analyzing empirical material collected in their company project in the previous semester. The project focuses on the analysis work and the application of relevant analytical methods and theories to interpret results in a business context. The students must translate their data into concrete analyses and knowledge-based implications for practice and be trained in academic analyses' professional and reflective application and communication.

Detailed description of content

The project is based on a problem-oriented approach and focuses on the following activities: - Reflection on and presentation of the project's problem area, problem formulation and methodological considerations. - Selection, justification and discussion of relevant theories concerning the problem formulation. - Reflection on the logical inference form used (induction, deduction or abduction) and its significance for the analysis work. - Selection and justification of relevant analysis methods in light of the problem formulation and the empirical material. - Implement the analysis work and critically reflect on analytical choices and approaches. - Reflection on the scientific quality and limitations of the project. - Meaningful and professionally anchored presentation of the results of the analysis. - Discuss the report's most important results and practical implications in a business context.

Programme
ASSESSMENT
Overall learning outcomes

After completing the project, the student will be able to:

  • identify and formulate programme-relevant issues based on concrete empirical material and a problem-oriented approach

  • select, apply and discuss relevant theories concerning the chosen problem formulation and the analytical purpose

  • reflect on and justify the choice of scientific theoretical position and logical inference form (inductive, deductive or abductive approach) and their significance for the analysis work

  • select and apply relevant qualitative and/or quantitative analysis methods and carry out a systematic analysis of empirical material

  • translate analytical results into professionally based and practice-relevant recommendations

  • communicate analysis, results, and recommendations professionally and reflectively in a written report and oral presentation, with an eye for professional and application-oriented perspectives

  • reflect on the group's methodological and analytical choices during the project and be critical of the project's scientific quality and limitations.

Examination and assessment criteria (implemented)

The assessment is individual and based on the student's individual performance. The assessment is an overall assessment of the written product(s) and the subsequent oral examination.

Professional knowledge and understanding - The student can demonstrate knowledge of central theories and concepts relevant to the chosen problem. - The student can explain different analysis strategies and logical inference forms (induction, deduction, abduction) and reflect on their importance for the analysis work. - The student understands the strengths and limitations of the theories and methods used.

Methodological and analytical skills - The student can formulate a problem and analyze empirical data using relevant qualitative and/or quantitative methods. - The student can justify the choice of analysis methods and use them consistently and reflectively in the project. - The student can interpret and discuss results concerning the problem formulation and the theoretical basis.

Practical and strategic implications - The student can identify and discuss practical implications based on the analytical results. - The student can formulate professionally based recommendations in a strategic and application-oriented context.

Communication, reflection and collaboration - The student can communicate the problem, method, analysis, and results clearly and professionally, both in writing and orally. - The student can engage in professional dialogue, reflect critically on their choices, and answer clarifying and in-depth questions. - The student can collaborate on a complex project process and contribute actively to joint professional products and presentations.
